A pin is something a user posted about a place. This page explains every way a pin is removed, and how to ask us to remove one. You do not need the app, an account, or a lawyer to make a request.

Press and hold your own pin on the map, or open your profile and use My Pins. It comes down immediately, for everyone.
Open the pin, then use Flag: Party Over / Unsafe. Enough flags from people actually at the spot pulls the pin automatically, with no wait for a human. The same prompt offers a one tap call to 911.
Use the in app Report button on the pin, or email us using the section below. Reports go to automated review and are acted on without waiting for a person.
Most pins come down on their own. WTM is built so that removal does not depend on any one person being awake.
Any user can delete their own pin at any time. If someone asks the host to take their party down, this is usually the quickest route.
Photos, videos, and text are scanned automatically before a pin publishes. Prohibited content is rejected and the pin never appears. Screening is automated and is not perfect in either direction.
People physically inside the pin's area can flag it. Once enough distinct people flag it, roughly 30% of its raters for a small pin scaling to 10% for a large one, and never fewer than 3 people, the pin is hidden automatically. No staff approval is involved.
A pin that never gets going, fewer than 4 ratings in its first hour, is removed automatically. A pin whose crowd has dropped to about a tenth of its peak is treated as over and removed too.
Reports are reviewed by automated systems that decide to remove, restrict, or dismiss. Suspected child sexual abuse material is quarantined and reported to NCMEC as federal law requires.
We may remove any pin at any time, at our discretion, including at the request of a resident, property owner, venue, or law enforcement agency. We do not have to agree that we are legally required to, and removing something is not an admission that we were.

The street address, or a screenshot of the pin, or its coordinates. Location is the one thing we cannot work without. Pins are posted anonymously, so we identify them by place, not by who posted them.
For example: it is your home, you did not consent, it is on private property, it is a school, it is unsafe, or the content itself breaks the rules. A sentence is enough.
Your relationship to the place and a way to reach you. You do not need to be a WTM user. Law enforcement: include your agency, name, badge or ID number, a callback number, and say plainly whether this is an emergency.
Reported non consensual intimate imagery is removed within 48 hours, as the law requires. If the person depicted is a minor, it is handled under our child safety process and reported to NCMEC. Email admin@downloadwtm.com or use the in app report option.
Quarantined immediately and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children under 18 U.S.C. 2258A. This is the one review a person performs, and only to make the report the law requires.
